Final Tasmanian Senate Seat Decided

Senator Richard Colbeck acknowledged Liberal Senate candidate Sally Chandler for her tremendous effort during the election campaign.

He said it was unfortunate that Sally narrowly missed out on securing the final senate seat in Tasmania due to preference distributions.

"Sally was an excellent candidate for the Liberal party. She is very in touch with local issues and her background in international trade and investment would have been a tremendous strength. I wish Sally all the best for the future," he said.

"Sally still has much to offer politics and Tasmania."

Senator Colbeck congratulated Palmer United Party candidate Jacqui Lambie for winning the sixth senate seat in a very tight battle.

"Jacqui's win is a tribute to perseverance and I wish her well as she prepares to commence her term," he said.
